‘M5’ Global Comparison of Asset Class Returns
Below, the world’s major financial markets from the perspective of Swiss pension funds and other institutional investors with a Swiss base are scrutinised: Switzerland (domestic market), plus the world’s largest four orthodox markets, USA, Japan, Eurozone-Europe, and Great Britain.
This group represents the bulk of any global investable universe, being equal to some 80% of ‘the world’. Arguably, any and all investment needs can be met and any investment ‘theme’ may be pursued, within these five countries.
Deliberately breaking with popular philosophies, the ‘M5’ composite indices (‘M4’ for Currencies) calculated to give a global representation of an asset class are all equal-weight. This gives a far less biased description of the components it contains.
Each asset class has its own dedicated set of detailed illustrations. The individual sections may be accessed directly through the main navigation menu, or by clicking on that asset’s feature chart further down.
